Evacuation order issued for Keremeos Creek wildfire

 An evacuation order has been issued by the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional County for a bushfire-threatened area  about 21 kilometers northwest of Penticton.   The Order covers Green Mountain Road between Highway 3A to the south, Apex Mountain Road to the north, and  the general vicinity of Lake Ford.   The Keremeos Creek Fire was discovered on Friday and now covers about one square kilometer.   The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and the BC Fire Authority says they are engaging in aggressive behavior. The service indicated that the fire was in an area unusable for the support of oil tankers and heavy machinery.   Currently 10 BC Wildfire Service staff, two construction security guards and two helicopters are on site, with additional staff en route.   This report from the Canadian Press was first published on July 29, 2022.
